Risks and Benefits
What are the side effects you can expect?
Since this study does not intervene with cyst management, no side effects are expected. Also, participation will not interfere with any future decisions regarding your health. Your treating physician will remain responsible for the follow-up and treatment of your pancreatic cyst.
What are the pros and cons for participants?
A potential benefit of participation is that it reduces the chance of missing a check-up, as the study team will send reminders to your doctor. Also, the obtained knowledge from this study will be used to improve pancreatic cyst surveillance in the future. The only burden for you, as a participant, is the withdrawal of three blood vials instead of one. In addition, we will ask you to fill out a questionnaire after diagnosis and after each subsequent follow-up visit. You may find some of these questions confronting or personal. You can also join the study without participating in the questionnaires.
What happens if I do not want to participate in this study?
Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You have the right not to take part at all or to leave the study at any time, without explanation. This will not result in any penalty or loss of benefits to which you are entitled, and it will not harm your relationship with your treating physician.
